What are Community Diagnostic Centres?
- Community Diagnostic Centres (CDCs) are healthcare facilities that offer tests, scans and checks in local community settings.
- The aim of CDCs is to provide quicker and easier access to diagnostic services for people by locating the services nearer where they live.
- There are around 170 CDCs across England – all are located away from busy hospital environment, offering a more relax atmosphere for patients.
What kind of tests are available at the Redhill CDC?
When fully operational, the Redhill CDC will offer the following services:
- Ambulatory Electrocardiography (ECG)
- Echocardiogram (ECHO)
- Electrocardiography (Holter)
- CT Scans
- Dexa Scans
- Respiratory (e.g. Full Lung Functions Tests)
- Non-Obstetric Ultrasound (NOUS)
- X-rays
How do I get an appointment in the Redhill CDC?
The CDC is not a walk-in service – you will need to get a referral from your GP or another healthcare professional from Surrey and Sussex NHS Trust (SASH) to get an appointment for a test the Redhill CDC.
- The CDC is not an Accident and Emergency service and not an Urgent Treatment Centre.
Is the Redhill CDC for Adults and Children?
The tests done in the Redhill CDC are only for Adults aged 18+.
Who do I contact if I have a question about my appointment at a CDC?
- Your appointment letter from SASH will give you all the information you need about your appointment in the CDC, including who to contact if you need additional information or have any concern about your test.
Is it safe to have a test done in a CDC?
- Yes, it is safe to have a test done in Redhill CDC. All CDCs nationally are designed to be a separate healthcare facility, away from acute hospitals and emergency departments. This can help to reduce the risk of exposure to infectious diseases can generally be higher in acute hospital settings.
- The diagnostic care provided in the Redhill CDC use the same high standards of equipment and staff as NHS hospitals, and are subject to the same high standards of reviews and audits to ensure best and safe practice of clinical care.
- Our staff the Redhill and Crawley CDCs are NHS employees and follow Trust policies and guidelines and procedures, just like in in East Surrey hospital.
- All CDCs are CQC inspected and registered healthcare facilities.

The Redhill CDC is a brand-new facility located inside the Belfry Shopping Centre with easy access to local buses and trains and parking facilities.

Fastway 100, 315, 324, 400, 405, 410, 410A, 420, 424, 430, 820 and the Mole Valley Villager Services.
