Panto stars celebrate free Santa’s Grotto opening at the Belfry Shopping Centre, Redhill

Hundreds of children enjoyed a free visit to Santa’s Grotto when it opened at the Belfry Shopping Centre in Redhill on Saturday. The Grotto is completely free to visit every day up to Christmas Eve and children also receive a free gift from Santa.

Stars from The Harlequin Theatre pantomime, Snow White & the Seven Dwarfs, joined in the celebrations, with Snow White and Prince Benedict walking to the Grotto with Father Christmas and meeting excited children in the queue. Also adding to the colour, magic and sparkle were three beautiful princesses on behalf of the charity, Autism All Stars, who greeted families at the Grotto all day.

Joyful music throughout the day was provided by The Salvation Army Band and Reigate Rock Choir.

More festivities at the Belfry over Christmas include a children’s colouring competition to win prizes from Toy Barnhaus and Christmas Carols at the Belfry on Sunday 9th December at 6.30pm. There will also be Carols and Christmas music every Saturday from The Salvation Army, local groups and school choirs.

Charities join in the festive cheer at the Belfry

Andy Nash, Centre Manager, said, “The Belfry is proud to be at the heart of our community in Redhill and we are delighted that as many children as possible will have the chance to meet Santa at our free Grotto this Christmas.

“Our Christmas charities this year are Stripey Stork, George and the Giant Pledge and the Born Free Foundation. If visitors to Santa’s Grotto would like to make a donation, all of the money raised will go towards the work of these fantastic local causes.”

Belfry stores are open until 6pm from 10th December and until 7pm the week before Christmas. With more than 60 stores to choose from and parking at the Centre for just £1 for the first 2 hours and £1 all day on Sunday, the Belfry is the ideal place to shop local for all your gifts and essentials.

Pick up the Belfry’s Christmas brochure at the Centre for more about everything going on at the Belfry, including Grotto opening times and full store opening hours over the holidays. Or visit, Facebook, Twitter and see posters around the Centre.
